Our logo has changed, but our focus remains as it has been since 1975 - helping survivors of violence transition to lives of safety and independence.  Transitions began with a group of women sitting around a kitchen table discussing ways in which to support women who were victims of domestic violence. Not long after that the name of Susquehanna Valley Women In Transition, or SVWIT, was born. The name has served our mission well over the years, but violence isn’t just a women’s issue.  Through the years we have transitioned and expanded our services to meet the needs of women, men and children who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and other serious crimes - hence the name, TRANSITIONS.
